Once again, the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana was an exciting musical event for all of us living in Cleveland! This Carnatic music festival is the largest South Indian Classical Music festival outside of India. It attracts thousands of people from around the USA and hundreds of musicians from India. On the first Saturday of the event this year, March 31, 2018, we were able to to once again take a group of children to sing bhajans on the stage just prior to the Pancharatna kritis. Our children presented 10-12 bhajans and slokams and did an enthusiastic job rendering them on the stage. The children are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in such a world-famous event.
Special thanks to Cleveland Balu (or, as we affectionately call him, Balu Mama) for accompanying us on the kanjira, to Murali Kaje for accompanying on the harmonium, and Soham Kaje for supporting on the mrdangam. It was a good opportunity and great fun for all those who participated.
